   Sensex rises 171pts, Nifty ends above 7800; F&O expiry eyed

 
Equity benchmarks fell 1 percent in morning trade on weakness in Asian peers after weak 

Chinese data, but positive European cues helped Indian equities rebound sharply in 

afternoon trade.

The market managed to see recovery in later part of the session on Wednesday ahead of 

expiry of Nifty September derivative contracts. Equity benchmarks fell 1 percent in morning

 helped Indian equities rebound sharply. 

The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 171.15 points or 0.67 percent to 25822.99 and the 50-share 

NSE Nifty climbed 33.95 points or 0.43 percent to 7845.95. The broader markets too gained 

in line with benchmarks; the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices advanced 0.5 percent and 

0.7 percent, respectively.

Experts said they expect rangebound trade to continue in near term but they feel there are lot

 of opportunities for investment post recent correction.


Stock Focus For Tomorrow :


Here is a list of fourteen stocks which are likely to remain in focus:

Tech Mahindra Ltd: The North American divisions of AAA Group, and Tech MahindraBSE -0.29 %, an Indian multinational specialized in digital transformation, have signed an agreement to provide full end-to-end solution services to their aerospace and defence customers, said media reports.

L&T Ltd: L&T Halol Shamlaji Tollway, a 100% special purpose vehicle promoted by L&T Infrastructure Development Project, has defaulted on Rs 1014 crore payment to lenders which was due in August due to cash shortage due to low toll collections.

Amtek Auto Ltd: Automobile parts maker Amtek AutoBSE -3.05 % said it is in advanced discussions with various banks and financial institutions for realignment of its debt obligations.

Pfizer Ltd: Drug giant PfizerBSE -2.34 % is starting 20 clinical trials this year and more soon after on treatments to conquer cancer as it also seeks to gain leadership in one of the hottest, and most lucrative, areas of medicine.

UltraTech Cement Ltd: Aditya Birla Group flagship firm UltraTech CementBSE -0.98 % said it has commissioned its grinding unit with a capacity of 1.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in Jhajjar, Haryana.

Sensex crashes 541 pts, Nifty ends at 7812

Dragged by sharp sell-off, the market has ended with losses. The 

Sensex plunged down 541.14 points or 2.1 percent at 25651.84. The Nifty crashes 165.10

 points or 2.1 percent at 7812. About 977 shares have advanced, 1712 shares declined and

 107 shares were unchanged.


 Vedanta, Hindalco, Coal India, Tata Motors and L&T were major laggards.


3:20 pm How will market pan out? Siddharth Bhamre  said this remains a 

sell-on rise market. Short-covering rally can remain elusive for a while and advises investors

 to remain guarded. He thinks 7900 is technically the support level for Nifty. Fundamental 

expert Dipan Mehta says if earnings disppoint in this quarter, then we will be in bear market.

 "A lot of course depends on the Reserve Bank commentary," he said.



Stock Market Tips :




Hospitality chain Hotel Leelaventure has entered into a pact with Malaysia-based MetTube 

to sell Goa property for a  consideration of Rs 725 crore as part of its debt restructuring 

process. The property will be acquired by Ceres Hotels  Private Ltd, a wholly-owned Indian 

subsidiary of MetTube. However, Leelaventure will continue to operate the hotel 

under Leela brand.Should we buy or sell the shares of Hotel Leela?


 
Brokerage house Emkay is bullish on SKS Microfinance and has recommended hold rating 


on the stock with a target price of Rs 440 in its research report dated September 18, 2015.


Brokerage house Firstcall Research is bullish on Ultramarine and Pigments and has 

recommended buy rating on the stock with a target price of Rs 87 in its research report dated 

September 21, 2015..

Rupee posts biggest gain vs US dollar in two years 

The rupee posted on Friday its biggest daily gain in two years, while bond yields fell to a near three-month low, as the Federal Reserve's decision to hold U.S. interest rates was seen as paving the way for the Reserve Bank of India to ease its monetary policy later this month. 

The rupee ended at 65.67/68 per dollar from its 66.4550/66.4650, its strongest level since Aug. 20. 

For the day, the rupee rose 1.2 percent against the dollar, its biggest daily gain since Sept. 19, 2015

For the day, the rupee rose 1.2 percent against the dollar, its biggest daily gain since Sept. 19, 2013. For the week, the rupee gained 1 percent, snapping a two-week losing streak. 

The domestic currency benefitted from a weaker dollar as well as hopes that a rate cut from the RBI would boost investor confidence. 

The 10-year benchmark bond yield closed down 5 basis points to 7.70 percent, its lowest level since June 22. 

For the week, the 10-year bond yield fell 0.9 percent

Sensex sheds 151 pts on profit booking; Bank Nifty slips 1%

The market succumbed to selling pressure on Tuesday after rallying 1 percent in previous session. Banking & financials, capital goods, metals and auto stocks saw profit booking. Not only benchmarks but also broader markets were under pressure.

The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 150.77 points or 0.58 percent to 25705.93 and the 50-share NSE Nifty slipped 43.15 points or 0.55 percent to 7829.10. The BSE Midcap index fell 0.77 percent and Smallcap lost 0.55 percent. The market breadth was negative as about 1520 shares declined against 1101 shares advanced on the Bombay Stock Exchange.


Overall not only India but also global markets continued to be rangebound ahead of major event - Federal Reserve's two-day meet that will begin on September 16. The volatility may continue, feel experts.

Global markets were mixed. In Asia, China's Shanghai was down 3.55 percent and Hang Seng declined 0.5 percent as cautious sentiment prevailed ahead of the Fed meet. Japan's Nikkei pared gains, up 0.3 percent after Bank of Japan maintained its expansionary monetary policy at an annual pace of 80 trillion yen. European markets like France's CAC and Germany's DAX gained 0.4-0.7 percent while Britain's FTSE declined 0.2 percent.


Stock Market Tips :

 Sensex up 246 pts; rate cut hope lifts banks on August WPI Consistent contraction in 

inflation raised hopes of rate cut by Reserve Bank of India in its forthcoming monetary policy 

on September 29. Bank Nifty rallied 1.8 percent as Axis Bank surged 3 percent. ICICI Bank, 

HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Punjab National Bank gained 1-2 

percent. 

It was a good start to crucial Fed week on Monday as the market rallied 1 percent. Banks 

drove market higher on hopes of rate cut. The BSE Midcap index outperformed benchmarks

, rising 1.3 percent. The market breadth was in favour of advances with 2:1 ratio. The 

30-share BSE Sensex jumped 246.49 points to 25856.70 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 

82.95 points to 7872.25.
