Snapping a two-day losing streak, the 30-share BSE Sensex surged 424.06 points, or 1.70 per cent, to settle at 25,317.87 on Tuesday on some proactive action by the government to try and build defences against the global headwinds and also signs that the rout in Chinese equity market may be finally over.
The broader 50-pack Nifty index closed at 7,688.25, up 129.45 points, or 1.71 per cent. CNX Bank Nifty rallied over 3 per cent in trade today.

Shares of Amara Raja Batteries dropped over 5 per cent on Tuesday after foreign brokerage Goldman Sachs removed the stock from its Asia Pacific buy list, citing limited upside potential.
The stock fell 5.03 per cent to hit an intra-day low of Rs 879.90 on BSE. Peers Bosch and Exide Industries shed 1.2 per cent each.
